Knowledge and Righteous Company Are Pillars of a Strong Society: Allama Hami
“The purity and strength of society lie in the pursuit of knowledge and the company of the righteous,” remarked Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chief Patron of Karwani Islami International, during his address at the Central Jamia Masjid, Saadpora Bala Harwan, on the blessed occasion of Jumu‘ah. A large gathering of worshippers listened attentively as Allama Hami spoke on the pressing social issues of the time and the moral responsibilities of citizens.
Reflecting on the trajectory of successful nations, Allama Hami emphasized that knowledge has always been the cornerstone of societal advancement. Equally crucial, he noted, are mutual compassion, tolerance, and the guidance of the righteous—elements that form the very foundation of a healthy and enduring society.
“Nations that blend high educational standards with the wisdom and companionship of insightful individuals do not fall into decline. Instead, they become timeless examples of continuous progress,” he asserted.
Addressing Social Ills and Drug Abuse
Allama Hami expressed deep concern over the rising drug addiction, moral decay, and intellectual stagnation in society. He urged the community to recognize that true social progress depends on the acquisition of meaningful knowledge and close association with saints, scholars, and people of integrity.
He called upon citizens, especially the youth, to embody the qualities of responsible and conscious individuals, where seeking comprehensive knowledge is no longer optional but a fundamental civic and religious duty.
“To eliminate the roots of corruption and social decline, we must walk in the footsteps of the righteous. Their teachings prioritize brotherhood, cooperation, and moral strength—values that ensure stability in any society,” he said.
Youth Awakening and Moral Education
Focusing on the role of youth, Allama Hami stressed that the intellectual awakening of the younger generation is key to defeating drug abuse and other harmful tendencies. He urged parents, educators, and community leaders to provide proper guidance and training that nurtures both intellect and character.
He particularly highlighted the need for ethical education to be introduced as a core component of school curricula from the earliest stages, so that children grow up with a strong sense of morality and purpose.
“Ethics must be taught early. A morally aware child today is a responsible leader tomorrow,” he emphasized.
Call to Action for Society
Allama Hami urged social leaders and responsible institutions to actively participate in shaping a generation grounded in spiritual values, discipline, and knowledge. He reminded the public that the youth are the true asset of any nation, and investing in their intellectual and moral development is a religious and national obligation that cannot be overlooked.
He concluded by reinforcing the idea that only a society rooted in knowledge, guided by righteousness, and committed to moral principles can overcome today’s challenges and move toward a more prosperous and spiritually sound future.
