Cold weather continued across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with several areas in the Kashmir Valley, Chenab region and Ladakh recording sub-zero minimum temperatures, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.
In the Kashmir region, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.0°C, while Qazigund registered 1.4°C. Pahalgam and Gulmarg remained below freezing at minus 1.2°C and minus 1.6°C, respectively. Pulwama recorded a low of minus 1.1°C, while Kupwara and Pampore settled at 2.0°C each. The minimum temperature at Srinagar Airport was 0.8°C. Baramulla recorded 2.1°C, Bandipora 1.1°C and Shopian 0.2°C. Kulgam and Zethan Rafiabad temperatures were not available.
In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6°C, while Katra settled at 9.8°C. Banihal recorded 5.0°C and Bhaderwah 3.8°C. Kishtwar was the coldest in the region at minus 1.5°C. Udhampur recorded 6.4°C, Rajouri 6.6°C and Doda 8.5°C. Temperature data for Samba and Poonch was not available.
Ladakh continued to experience severe cold, with Leh recording a minimum temperature of minus 8.4°C and Kargil minus 7.9°C. Nubra Valley recorded a low of minus 4.2°C.
The cold conditions are expected to persist, particularly in higher reaches, as winter continues to tighten its grip across the region.
