Western Disturbance Moves Out of J&K; More Weather Activity Ahead

The Western Disturbance affecting Jammu and Kashmir has now moved out of the region, but not before delivering additional snowfall overnight across several districts. Fresh snow was reported in parts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora, and Kishtwar.

In a rare event, Rajouri town also witnessed a brief spell of snowfall. Meteorologists noted that snowfall occurred in areas that had not experienced such conditions in nearly a decade.

According to weather experts, the unusual spread of snowfall was due to a strong cold air mass associated with the Western Disturbance. This resulted in a sharp drop in temperatures and created favourable conditions for snow even in relatively warmer regions.

For now, weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to remain largely dry over the next 48 hours.

However, another Western Disturbance is likely to approach the region from Monday afternoon onwards. This system may bring light to moderate rain and snowfall across parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days.
