The BJP’s Lal Chowk constituency unit on Tuesday organised a commemorative programme in Srinagar to mark the death anniversary of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.
The event was held under the leadership of Lal Chowk constituency president Mehraj U Din, along with morcha presidents of the constituency. According to party leaders, hundreds of workers attended the programme.
BJP general secretary (organisation) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Ashok Koul, attended as the chief guest. The event was also attended by state secretaries Mudasir Wani and Arif Raja; state executive member and co-incharge, Minority Morcha, Aijaz Hussain; state spokesperson Manzoor Bhat; media incharge Sajid; BJP district president Srinagar Sheikh Salman; senior leader Sheikh Bashir; and other party workers and local residents.
Floral tributes were paid to Upadhyaya, followed by speeches highlighting his philosophy of Integral Humanism and the principle of Antyodaya — a concept that emphasises the uplift of the poorest.
Addressing the gathering, Koul said Upadhyaya had envisioned a people-centric model of development rooted in civilisational values, and that his philosophy of Antyodaya underscored the need to uplift the most deprived sections of society.
Aijaz Hussain said Upadhyaya viewed politics as a means of public service and stressed inclusive growth and social harmony. Mudasir Wani said the philosophy of Integral Humanism provides direction for balanced development and national unity.
Party leaders said Upadhyaya’s ideas continue to guide the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development and grassroots empowerment. The programme concluded with participants pledging to uphold the values associated with his vision.
