Congress MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone on Thursday called for an immediate end to the alleged harassment of Kashmiris outside Jammu and Kashmir, terming the repeated incidents “deeply unfortunate and disturbing.”
Carrying a placard outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, Lone expressed concern over what he described as frequent attacks on Kashmiris in different parts of the country. The placard read, “Stop harassment of innocent Kashmiri students.”
“It is very unfortunate that we see attacks on Kashmiris almost every day. This must end. What we heard yesterday is also disturbing,” Lone said while speaking to reporters.
He was accompanied by MLA Iftikhar Ahmad from Rajouri, who also voiced concern over the safety and security of Kashmiri students and residents studying and working outside the Union Territory.
The legislators urged authorities to ensure protection of innocent students and take strict action against those involved in such incidents.
