A large and emotionally charged protest unfolded on Monday in Magam town of central Kashmir’s Budgam district as hundreds of residents gathered on the second day of mourning following the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Participants, many visibly distressed, took to the streets to express solidarity and grief over the news of Khamenei’s death, which has sparked widespread demonstrations across the Jammu and Kashmir Valley.
The protest in Magam forms part of a broader pattern of gatherings and demonstrations in the region following the confirmation by Iranian state media of Khamenei’s death in strikes by U.S. and Israeli forces, an event that has also led to security measures and closures in other parts of the Valley.
