Allama Hami Urges Peace, Responsible Charity During Friday Sermon

Thousands of worshippers gathered for Friday prayers at the historic Central Jamia Masjid Majgund in Srinagar, where special prayers were offered for global peace and stability amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Addressing the large congregation, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, chief of Karwani Islami International, expressed deep concern over the ongoing unrest and conflict in the Middle East, particularly the recent developments in Iran. He said that persistent tensions, violence and aggression are causing widespread anxiety and distress across the world.

“All wars and conflicts bring nothing but devastation,” Allama Hami said, adding that war leads to the loss of innocent lives, economic destruction and the ruin of centuries-old civilizations and cultural heritage.

He emphasized that throughout history, Sufis and Rishis devoted their lives to the welfare of humanity and the Muslim Ummah, setting remarkable examples of peace, compassion and service to society.

During the gathering, special prayers were offered for lasting peace in the Middle East, particularly in Iran. Prayers were also made for those who lost their lives and for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Speaking about the significance of charity during the holy month of Ramadan, Allama Hami urged Muslims to use the sacred month as an opportunity to purify their souls and wealth and to strengthen their faith and piety.

He stressed that paying Zakat and giving Sadaqah should be done with sincerity and responsibility. He advised the public to ensure that their charity reaches genuinely deserving people and warned them not to be misled by professional beggars or undeserving individuals.

“All forms of charity given with pure intention to rightful beneficiaries never decrease a person’s wealth,” he said, adding that such acts instead bring blessings and increase.

Allama Hami also appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony in society and to uphold the values of compassion and social responsibility during the blessed month.
