Police Inaugurates T20 Cricket Tournament in Ganderbal

In a significant initiative to promote sportsmanship and youth engagement, Ganderbal Police on Monday inaugurated the Martyr Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad Baba T-20 Cricket Tournament at Qamariya Stadium in Ganderbal under the Civic Action Programme.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, accompanied by Additional SP Owaise Loun and DySP Headquarters Umer Urfan.

The inaugural match was played between Rising Star Baderkund and Shallabugh Blasters. A total of 32 teams from across the district are participating in the tournament, reflecting strong enthusiasm among local youth.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Poswal highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a positive mindset among young people. He said such initiatives provide a platform for youth to showcase their talent while channelising their energy towards constructive activities.

Participants expressed gratitude to the police for organising the event and providing an opportunity for healthy competition. The tournament also drew an encouraging response from locals and sports enthusiasts.

The police reiterated their commitment to organising similar events in the future to strengthen community-police relations and promote peace, harmony, and youth development in the district.
