The demand for reopening the historic Sharda Peeth in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has gained fresh momentum, with stakeholders reiterating calls for access to the religious site.
Ravinder Pandita, founder of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir, urged the government to facilitate the reopening of the shrine and allow a fact-finding visit to assess its condition.
He said that Karan Singh had earlier written to the Prime Minister, seeking permission for a two-to-three member delegation from the committee to visit the site.
Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Singh also supported the demand, recalling his visit to Teetwal near the Line of Control, which he described as emotional given the historical linkage of the region with the former princely state.
He referred to the legacy of Gulab Singh, who established the Dogra rule in the 19th century.
The call for reopening Sharda Peeth has been raised repeatedly by various groups, citing its religious and cultural importance.
