Former MLC and BJP J&K-UT spokesperson Girdhari Lal Raina has called for concrete measures to preserve and promote the Kashmiri language, describing it as a constitutional, cultural and civilizational responsibility.
Congratulating Daily Kahwat on completing 15 years of uninterrupted publication, he termed the newspaper's contribution to the preservation of Kashmiri as remarkable. Raina also questioned why the only Kashmiri-language daily continues to be denied regular government advertisements despite Kashmiri being a Scheduled Language under the Constitution.
He urged the Jammu & Kashmir Government to adopt a comprehensive language promotion policy and extend government advertising support to Daily Kahwat.
