“Gunfight has started now as militants turned down the surrender offer and opened fire and lobbed grenade on joint search party,” police had said earlier.

The police officer told GNS that families of all the trapped militants were brought to the site in a bid to persuade them to surrender. “They opened fire which has been retaliated, leading to encounter,” he had said.
Last night, police, army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF had launched a cordoned and search operation in the area amid specific information about the presence of militants. (GNS)
