‘Digi Dhan Mela’ organized in Baramulla to promote cashless transactions

Srinagar: In a bid to strengthen the cashless transactions and to spread awareness among the people, District Administration Baramulla in collaboration with Department of Information Technology, J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, and other institutions preferring Digital Banking, “Digi Dhan Mela” was organized here at Government Degree Collage Baramulla with Advisor, (National Institution of Transforming India) NITI Ayog Dr.Manoj Singh as the chief guest and DDC Baramulla Dr. Nasir Ahmad Naqash and Mr.Hashim, Asian Champion in Karate, as guests of honor.
On this occasion, a huge gathering of people including students and merchants participated during which awareness was disseminated regarding the benefits of cashless transactions.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manoj said that the main objective of the programme is to educate people about the use and benefits of cashless transactions. He appreciated the tireless efforts of banks in translating the dream of cashless payments into reality. He added that this programme launched by the PM of India will be concluded on April 14 during which one Crore prizes will be distributed among concerned departments. Digi Dhan Melas have already been organized in 87 districts in India, Baramulla achieving the coveted feat of being the 88th venue for this initiative of cashless India, Digital India.
Earlier Dr.Manoj, Advisor NITI Aayog along with District Development Commissioner, Baramulla Dr.Nasir Ahmad Naqash inaugurated the Digi Dhan Mela and visited the different stalls setup by different banks, telecom companies, various agencies and departments for awareness and to promote cashless transactions.
The function was attended by ADC, JDP, officers from NITI Aayog, J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, officers from District Administration, representatives of various banks operating in the district, besides various representatives of telecom companies.
