Kupwara: Incessant Rains Cause Damage to Residential Property, Cultivation Fields
Vital bridge connecting several villages also damaged at Nawa Bazar, Khumriyal
Kupwara, Jul 30 : Incessant rains have caused damage to residential property and cultivation fields in several parts of Kupwara district, even as excessive waters, as a result of heavy downpour, washed down part of a vital bridge connecting several villages at Nawa Bazar locality in Khumriyal.
Locals told GNS said that the water has inundated surroundings and forced its entry into residential houses at several places including Goos, Kashirah, Izz Gund, Gund Machher, Salkote and other areas in the vicinity, resulting in damage to belongings of the inhabitants.
The excessive waterflow has also washed down cultivation crops at several places, they said.
Meanwhile locals from Khumriyal told GNS that the incessant rains have wreaked havoc to paddy fields, besides damaging several residential houses including those belonging to Sanaullah Mir and Ashiq Hussain Bhat at Izz Gund locality.
A vital bridge has also received damage at Nawa Bazar Khumriyal area leaving it unallowable for movement, they said adding few vehicles were also washed away by the heavy water flow.
Meanwhile when contacted an official told GNS that teams are being dispatched to the affected areas for an on ground assessment of the prevailing situation. (GNS)
