COVID-19 vaccination: Month after missing two deadlines, J&K yet to complete vaccination to all above 45 age group

Over 99% have taken first dose, 30% second dose

Srinagar, Jul 31 : The Jammu and Kashmir administration is yet to give the first dose of Covid vaccine to all above 45 years even after one month it missed two deadlines.

The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had set a deadline to vaccinate all the people above 45-years of age till June end, however, since then one more month has passed but administration is yet to complete the process.

As per the data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 13 districts in J&K which includes Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Samba, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora and Ganderbal have already completed 100 percent mark, however, seven districts are yet to complete the process.

Pertinently, LG earlier on May 16 had set 10 days to vaccinate all above 45, however, the deadline was missed by a long margin and later June end was set as another deadline.

Since then one more month has passed, but there are still a few thousand people above 45 years who are yet to get vaccinated.

A top health official said that they would be vaccinated in the coming few days.

As per the data, over 99 percent of the population of above 45 age group has received the first dose of vaccine while around 30 percent people have received the second jab.

In Srinagar around 95 percent people above 45 years have received the first jab while 20 percent have received the second dose.

In Kulgam 100 percent have received the first jab and 28 percent have received the second jab.

In Shopian, 100 percent received the first jab and 42 percent received the second dose. In Bandipora, 100 percent and 25 percent have received first and second jabs respectively.

In Anantnag, 100 percent have received the first dose and 27 percent have received the second dose and in Baramulla 100 percent have received the first jab and 26 percent have received the second jab.

In Kupwara, 84 percent have received the first jab and 16 percent have received the second shot. In Pulwama, 100 percent have received the first jab while 29 percent have received the second jab. In Ganderbal 100 percent have received first jab and 38 percent have received second jab and in Budgam, 100 percent workers have received first jab while 30 percent have received second jab.

Similarly in Jammu, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, Kuthua, Ramban, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi 100 percent, 98 percent, 93 percent, 92 percent, 96 percent, 100 percent, 100 percent, 100 percent, 100 percent and 92 percent persons above 45 years of ace have received first jab while as 46 percent, 29 percent, 24 percent, 33 percent, 32 percent, 40 percent, 45 percent, 22 percent 17 percent and 23 percent have received second dose respectively.

In aggregate form, of 3,076,289 persons above 45 years of age 3,058,594 (99 percent) have received first jab and 895,990 (30 percent) have received second jab respectively

Pertinently, a vaccination drive in J&K was started on January 16—(KNO)
