Srinagar: PDP organized an impressive function at party headquarters Srinagar to welcome Asif wangnoo a well-known social activist and business personality from Baghwan pora Lalbazar Srinagar.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the new young known face from Srinagar to the party fold. On the Occasion Mehbooba interacted with media and said that she will write to Home Minister of India to ensure the release of Srinagar youth from National Investigation Agency.

Pertinently, Arsalan Feroz- a 19 year old youth from Zaldagar Srinagar was arrested by NIA recently. NIA in its official statement claimed that Arsalan is a TRF operative, however, his family staged a protest terming the charges baseless.

Mehbooba Mufti as talked to media today at party headquarters Srinagar said that family members of Arsalan including his father who has recently suffered a minor heart attack came to meet her and vouched for his innocence.

“Arsalan is 19 years old who had earlier been arrested by police on 21 October last year. After spending over 40 days in police detention, he was cleared by police and accordingly released. I don’t know why the NIA arrested him, though family handed him over to the agency. NIA is claiming that he is a TRF operative, but family say otherwise,” Mehbooba Mufti said.

Mehbooba Mufti said that since police have no jurisdiction over the NIA and the probe agency directly falls under Home Ministry, she will write to the Home Minister of India about it.

“There is no FIR lodged against Arsalan Feroz in the past or present. I will write to the Home Minister to ensure his release as his family is in trauma,” she said.
