Jammu Kashmir Civil Society Forum Aghast Over Closure of Jamia Masjid Srinagar
"Release,Shift All Political Prisoners In The Domain of Human Rights";Says Qayoom Wani
Srinagar (PR):Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a dig on the govt for the continuing closure of Jamia Masjid Srinagar, the grand, majestic and divine religious milestone of muslims of Jammu and Kashmir besides the mega hub of trade and commerce of the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement issued here Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani expressed concern over the continued closure of this Jamia Masjid which he said besides religious geo-social scope, is the backbone of the indigenous commerce, trade, entrepreneurship and art in whole Jammu and Kashmir with regard to economy in terms of the basic recognition of main Srinagar, Shar-e-Khas. People from nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir happened to plan before days to travel to Srinagar as a religious belief to pray Friday prayers at this Grand Mosque to attain mental peace and thus have been waiting for its opening since its closure day by the authorities for security reasons.
“ However, the wait is not seen an end now and the devotees fail to understand why the mosque is not being opened for prayers when there are no reasons now to keep it closed, they ask questions that not being able to offer prayers at the grand mosque why it is not opened, they cant buy their commodities of choice from the main Srinagar for which they have been adapted to from ages” Wani said
Wani further said that Jamia Masjid has a history with the Mirwaiz family for they have been leading prayers there since times immemorial and as such people across Kashmir have a religious affiliation with Mirwaiz Family especially with Mirwaiz Dr Molvi umar Farooq as well.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum reiterated its demand for release and shifting of political prisoners in and outside jails including, senior citizens, youth and women prisoners some of them facing multiple ailments who need urgent family look-after .Wani said that the families of these are very much worried aboute their loved ones keeping in view the pandemic.
He said house detention of Internationally recognized religious and socio political leader Mirwaiz umer Farooq and the detention of human rights activists and journalists is cause of concern for every person and demanded their release at an earliest .
