Modi replaces stones with books in Kashmir: Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah who is in Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday while addressing a rally in Rajouri, Shah made the announcement of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to Paharis.
He further added that the administrative work to implement the reservation is underway in New Delhi.
The community has been demanding ST status for years and the BJP has promised that the demand would be met. Speaking in Rajouri, Shah touched upon the development work carried out by his government in J&K since the abrogation of Article 370 and questioned if the much-awaited ‘tribal reservation’ would have been possible without the historic 2019 decision.
Amit Shah said after the abrogation of Article 370, people in J&K got benefits from various government schemes. “Democracy is strengthened when people welcome change. It’s important to identify the 3 families of J&K which nurtured separatism instead of development,” he added.
“Earlier there were stone-pelting incidents, have you seen any such incidents now? No such incidents now. We have to understand the change that has come now… We have identified those in the administration who were supporting terrorism and rooted them out,” said Union HM Amit Shah.
He further said PM Modi gave computers and employment to the youth who earlier held stones (for stone-pelting) in their hands. “Record-breaking 50 lakh tourists have visited Jammu and 22 lakh tourists have visited Kashmir in recent months. Tourism will hugely benefit the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.”
– Taking a jibe at the previous governments, Shah said that earlier, all money sent by Centre for J-K’s development was usurped by a few but now everything is spent on people’s welfare. “Just three families used to rule J-K but now power is with 30,000 people elected to panchayats, district councils,” Shah said in an indirect reference to the Abdullahs and Mufti.
– Shah said that the committee set up to examine quota benefits recommended reservation for Gujjar, Bakarwal, Pahari communities and added that the government will implement it. “Development of Jammu and Kashmir is PM Modi’s priority,” he said.
“After Article 370 abrogation, reservation benefits are being given to Dalits, backwards and those living in hills,” HM Amit Shah said in Rajouri. He also clarified that the Paharis, who have been waiting for reservation will soon get their rights. “Would it have been possible to get tribal reservation if Articles 370 and 35A were not removed? With their removal now, minorities, Dalits, tribals & Paharis will get their rights,” Shah said.
– After Article 370 abrogation, reservation benefits being given to Dalits, backwards and those living in hills, says Shah. “Two lakh people got their homes & 5 lakh houses got direct water supply. All this happened because of Modiji. Justice Sharma Commission has recommended a reservation to the Gujjar, Bakarwal & Pahadi community,” he said.
-“Tribal reservation was possible only because article 370 was abrogated by Modiji on 5th August. The backward community, Tribal community and Pahadi community are finally getting their long-due rights,” says Amit Shah.
-“Today’s rally and your ‘Modi-Modi’ chants are answers to those who said if Article 370 will be abrogated, there will be a blood bath,” said Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri.
