CRPF 117 BN Inaugurates Inter-Unit Badminton Tournament
Amidst great excitement and enthusiasm, 117 Battalion CRPF of Srinagar Sector officially commenced the much-anticipated Inter-Battalion Badminton Tournament for the battalions and Group Centre deployment under the ops jurisdiction of Srinagar Sector.
The tournament was inaugurated, in a colourful opening ceremony by Sh. Biplab Sarkar, Commandant, 117Bn, CRPF in the presence of Jitendra Mohan Shilswal, Second-In-Command Abhiram Pankaj, Second-in-Command and officers & men from 117 Battalion as well as other participating units. Mohammad Iqbal, manager of SKISC also graced the occasion with his presence.
The badminton tournament, taking place at the esteemed Sher E Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, (SKISC) Srinagar generously provided by the J&K Sports Council, promises three action-packed days of thrilling competition. With the SKISC extending the services of their qualified referees, the event ensures an atmosphere of fair play and high-quality matches throughout the tournament.
This annual sporting event has attracted a total of 22 teams, featuring a total of 66 skilled players hailing from various battalions of Srinagar Sector.
The presence of players from different units has not only ignited a spirit of healthy competition but has also provided a unique opportunity for men and officers to interact, and build lasting bonds outside their usual professional settings.
The tournament’s primary objective is to promote teamwork and sportsmanship among the participating personnel. As the players step onto the court, they not only represent their respective units but also showcase the true spirit and commitment of Central Reserve Police Force.
Sarkar, Commandant, 117Bn, CRPF expressed his delight in inaugurating the tournament and emphasized the importance of sports events in fostering a cohesive and harmonious environment within the force.
He remarked, “Sports have a unique ability to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds under a common goal. This tournament provides an opportunity for our man and officers to excel not only in their professional lives but also on the sports field, building strong bonds that will serve us well in our collective mission to protect and serve our country.”
Unit 117 extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council for their generous support, without which this event would not have been possible.
The unit also expresses sincere appreciation to the referees who will be officiating the matches, ensuring fairness and upholding the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
