FCI Scam: ‘Lower rung employee made scapegoat to hush up case

SRINAGAR, SEP 8 : Employees of Food Corporation of India (FCI) J&K region are up arms against the suspension order of an employee found involved in the discrepancies of 130 trucks for entries during 2014-15 and 2015-16 in respect of the PEG Baramulla.

The anguished employees while holding a protest demonstration outside the Regional office in Srinagar told Press Trust of Kashmir that they suspended employee, Sandeep Vaid (AG-2) (D) S/o Pavan Vaid have been wrongly implicated in to the scam.

Worth to mention that a local news gathering agency PTK unearthed a huge scam in FCI where 130 trucks were fraudulently challaned, sold while as these truck were never unloaded at the PEG Baramulla.

Soon after the news report, FCI constituted a team to hold an inquiry into the scam worth crores of rupees. The protesting employees allege that the manager level officials misled the inquiry team resulting in making Vaid a scape goat to save the skin of involved officials.

They alleged that manager level officials were trying to hush up the case which led to the suspension of lower rung employees to close the matter under inquiry. They demand a fair probe must be carried out to put forth the facts.

Pertinently PTK in its earlier report disclosed that some top officers of FCI of the rank of managers are involved in this, which has been proved by officials’ documents.

Sources said that the order of suspension of an employee is out of the pressure from EDI vigilance Delhi. Reliable sources said that the FCI employees involved into the scam have a healthy political support and the favour of higher official.

Sources added that the inquiry team was formed in 2016 but a suspension of an employee is mere eyewash adding that several times a team from Delhi was sent to probe the matter but they were misguided by officials to hush up the matter.
