Mohammad Altaf Dar Calls for Urgent Political Reforms in J&K

Mohammad Altaf Dar, a distinguished socio-political activist and senior trade union leader, has issued a passionate call for sweeping political reforms within Jammu and Kashmir’s major political parties.

His remarks highlight the entrenched dominance of individual or family leadership in parties such as the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Conference (PC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Apni Party, and Congress, which he argues has led to a significant dearth of merit in leadership selection.

In a statement released today, Altaf Dar expressed deep concern over the outdated political structures that he believes no longer meet the needs of the region’s evolving electorate. He noted that the younger generation of voters is increasingly disenchanted with traditional political affiliations and is calling for a shift towards a more dynamic and responsive political leadership.

“Intolerance and the concentration of power in the hands of a few are undermining the democratic process,” Dar stated. He underscored the urgent need for political parties to embrace reform and allow new, merit-based leadership to emerge. According to Dar, the current leadership structures prioritize personal ambitions over the pressing needs of the populace, particularly in areas such as education and healthcare.

Dar’s call for reform comes at a time of growing discontent among voters who are seeking change in a political landscape that many view as stagnant and unrepresentative. His advocacy for fresh leadership aims to address these concerns by promoting a more inclusive, fair, and prosperous society for all.

As the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir continues to evolve, Dar’s appeal for reform resonates with many who are eager for a new direction in the region’s governance and political representation.
