Traders Align for Unified Closure; Srinagar Requests 10-Day Consultation Period

In a video conference chaired by the Labour Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, representatives from all districts of Kashmir valley participated to discuss a region-wide unified closure. The traders from both Jammu and Kashmir agreed to implement a single-day closure in solidarity.

However, the Chairman of the Joint Traders Association (JTA), Farhan Kitab, requested a 10-day extension for the Srinagar district to allow thorough consultations with various market stakeholders.Labour Commissioner assured in a meeting that during this extension, there would be no inspections or penalties imposed. The feedback and suggestions collected from the markets would be shared with the Labour Commissioner after the consultation period, ensuring that all concerns are addressed before finalizing the closure.
