Lone Urges Omar Abdullah Govt to Pass Resolution Against Article 370 Abrogation

Peoples Conference chairman Sajjad Lone has made a passionate appeal to the newly formed Omar Abdullah government to pass a resolution condemning the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

Lone emphasized that this resolution would send a strong message to the world and posterity that the Indian government's actions were illegal.

Sajjad Lone's appeal comes after the Indian government revoked Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, on August 5, 2019. “This move was accompanied by a massive security crackdown, political arrests, and a prolonged internet shutdown that lasted for months,” he said.

During a press conference, Lone urged the Omar Abdullah government to fulfill its election promise and bring forth a resolution that would condemn the GoI’s actions. He stated that the National Conference (NC) must show that the abrogation of Article 370 was illegal and that this resolution would be supported by him and others. He said this resolution will become a history.

Lone also questioned the Indian government's decision to convert Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory, citing that it is the only Muslim-majority state to be subjected to this treatment. "Is it that we are Muslim and they don't trust us and don't allow us to rule here?" he asked. [KNT]
