Five tourists from Andhra killed in road accident in TN
Tirunelveli, Sep 16: In a gruesome tragedy, five tourists, including two women from Andhra Pradesh were killed and six others critically wounded, when a cement bags-laden truck ploughed into them near Palayamkottai on the Tirunelveli-Kanyakumari four lane, here early today.
Police said a group of 51 people from Tenali in Guntur district were proceeding to Kanyakumari after visiting some tourist places in South Tamil Nadu. The bus driver parked the vehicle on the busy four-lane near a private Polytechnic Institute to enable the tourists to answer nature’s call.
While some of the tourists were standing behind the bus, the truck ferrying cement bags from Dindigul to Marthandam in Kanyakumari rammed into the rear-side of the tourist bus crushing four people to death on the spot. (UNI)
