BSNL Connects Aru Valley, Mandlan Area with 4G, Fibre-Optic Services
BSNL Jammu and Kashmir has successfully connected the remote Aru Valley and Mandlan area with state-of-the-art 4G mobile technology, which is upgradable to 5G, along with fibre-based high-speed internet (FTTH) services.
This milestone addresses long-standing telecommunication challenges faced by the region, bringing much-needed connectivity to these hard-to-reach areas.
The new infrastructure spans over 20 km of rugged terrain, leveraging advanced ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) fibre technology. The project marks a significant achievement in improving telecommunication access in some of the most isolated parts of the region.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Arvind Pandey (ITS), Principal General Manager Telecommunications, Kashmir, described this achievement as a personal milestone and a cherished goal since his joining BSNL in 2023. He emphasized BSNL's commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to remote areas where no other telecom operator had ventured before. "Our aim is to make modern technology accessible to everyone, regardless of their location," said Shri Pandey.
The expanded connectivity now benefits not only Aru Valley and Mandlan, but also reaches distant areas such as Keran, Tangdar, Gurez, Aharbal, Naranag, Gurwatan, and several other remote locations across Kashmir. This initiative is set to drive socio-economic development by enabling better access to education, administration, and tourism.
Local residents expressed their appreciation for the improved connectivity, which is expected to have a profound impact on both daily life and local business. The enhanced services also ensure all-weather access for tourists and hoteliers, helping to integrate digital technologies into the region's growing tourism sector.
Shri Pandey, along with senior BSNL officials, interacted with the local community to gauge their response. He was accompanied by Deputy GM BSNL Transmission Srinagar Shri A.K. Sharma, Divisional Engineer BSNL Anantnag Shri Peer Bilal Ahmad, and Divisional Engineer Mobile Services Srinagar Shri Shukla.
In his address, Shri Pandey also praised the efforts of the BSNL team in Srinagar for successfully implementing the 4G Saturation Project. He expressed confidence that BSNL will continue to provide reliable, affordable telecom services to the region in the months ahead.
This development represents a crucial step toward bridging the digital divide in Jammu and Kashmir, empowering the region with the tools necessary for progress and growth in the digital era.
