Drug Peddler Detained Under PIT NDPS Act In Handwara: Police
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Handwara Police have detained Manzoor Ahmad Shah, son of Saif Ud Deen Shah, a resident of Gund Moomin, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 (PIT NDPS).
Shah, who is considered a key member of a drug trafficking syndicate, has been actively involved in pushing youth towards substance abuse, causing significant harm to the community.
Shah’s criminal activities have been documented in several cases, including:
- FIR No. 266/2020 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kupwara.
- FIR No. 15/2024 under Sections 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Villgam.
Despite these earlier charges, Shah continued his illicit operations, prompting the police to take stronger action. Today, a detention warrant under Section 3 of the PIT NDPS Act was issued and executed, resulting in Shah’s detention for further legal proceedings.
The Handwara Police have vowed to continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse, ensuring strict action against those involved in such activities. Authorities are committed to securing the future of the youth and maintaining a drug-free society.
