CISF Receives Major Boost with Sanctioning of Two New Battalions

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved a major expansion for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with the sanctioning of two new battalions.

This decision, coupled with the recent approval of a Mahila Battalion, marks a significant step in bolstering the force's capacity to address national security challenges while creating new employment opportunities for over 2,000 individuals.

With the addition of these two battalions, the CISF’s total strength will rise to approximately 2 lakh personnel. The new battalions, each consisting of 1,025 personnel from various ranks, will increase the number of battalions in the CISF from 13 to 15. This expansion will create 2,050 new posts, each battalion being commanded by a Senior Commandant-level officer.

The new units will play a pivotal role in addressing the growing demands placed on the CISF, particularly in responding to internal security challenges. These reserve battalions will be equipped with specially trained personnel, who will be adept in securing high-security jails and other critical facilities. This addition is expected to provide a rapid response capability to swiftly address security needs in emergency situations.

The new battalions are expected to significantly enhance the CISF’s ability to manage crises more effectively, with well-equipped units that include a transport fleet and sufficient weaponry. The force’s improved rapid deployment capacity will be crucial in handling public safety and security during critical moments.

In addition to bolstering operational capabilities, the expanded force will alleviate pressure on existing CISF personnel. The increase in manpower will offer existing staff improved leave options and more frequent weekly relief, ensuring a better work-life balance and enhanced morale.

This expansion reflects the MHA’s continued commitment to strengthening India’s security framework while providing crucial job opportunities for thousands across the nation.
