GST Awareness Program Held at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla
The State Taxes Office Circle Baramulla-I & II successfully organised an outreach programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) at Dak Bungalow, Baramulla.
The event, aimed at raising awareness and fostering interaction, was attended by key stakeholders including traders, SSI unit holders, works contractors, and chartered accountants.
The programme was graced by State Tax Officers Parvaiz Ahmad Ganaie, Majeed-Ul-Islam, and Showket Ahmad Showketh. The State Tax Officers (STOs) welcomed the participants and noted that the awareness programme was being conducted under the guidance of the Commissioner, State Taxes Department.
During the session, the STOs addressed several key topics, including the importance of timely filing of GST returns, the consequences of offences such as issuing fake invoices, and the penalties associated with fake Input Tax Credit (ITC). They also discussed cash utilisation for settling liabilities, reimbursement policies for SSI unit holders, and the repercussions of stock accumulation under GST.
The programme aimed to bridge the gap between the tax department and taxpayers, providing a platform for better understanding of GST regulations and compliance. Stakeholders had the opportunity to interact directly with the officials, clarify doubts, and gain valuable insights into GST procedures. Several questions raised by traders were answered on the spot.
The event also featured speeches from prominent figures, including Sheikh Manzoor, Vice President of the Traders Federation Baramulla, Mohammad Imran, President of the SSI Unit Holders, and Imtiyaz Ahmad, President of the Contractors Association. They expressed their appreciation for such initiatives and requested that similar programmes be held in the future.
Nasir Ahmad Tugoo delivered both the welcome address and the concluding speech, thanking all participants for their engagement.
