IIAS-DARPG International Conference 2025: Shaping the Future of Governance
The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, convened the prestigious International Conference 2025 in New Delhi.
The event brought together over 350 delegates, including senior policymakers, administrators, and experts from 55 countries, to discuss the future of governance. Inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, the conference focused on innovative strategies to redefine public administration and improve last-mile service delivery under the theme “Next-Generation Administrative Reforms: Reaching the Last Mile.”
The Jammu and Kashmir delegation was represented by Shabnam Shah Kamili, Administrative Secretary, Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Secretary Technical, and Tasaduq Hussain Mir, Special Secretary, ARI & Trainings Department.
The conference served as a critical platform for knowledge exchange, addressing key governance priorities, including:
- Empowering citizens through strengthened last-mile service delivery for inclusive and accessible governance.
- Leveraging technology, including artificial intelligence, digital tools, and automation, to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
- Strengthening policy resilience by developing adaptive governance models to respond to global challenges.
- Promoting sustainable, participatory governance, ensuring inclusivity and accountability in decision-making.
With more than 350 research papers presented, the event facilitated in-depth discussions on administrative modernization, policy resilience, and best practices. It fostered global collaboration among governance leaders, resulting in valuable insights on how innovation can drive public service delivery and improve governance systems worldwide.
Reflecting on the impact of the conference, Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar emphasized the significance of integrating global best practices and digital advancements into governance frameworks. He noted:
“This forum has provided invaluable insights into global best practices in administration and how technology and innovation can drive administrative efficiency. The discussions and collaborations here will help shape transparent, inclusive, and citizen-centric public service delivery mechanisms.”
