A slight relief in the form of isolated light rainfall is possible later in the day at a few places. From May 27 to May 31, similar weather is expected to continue, though light rain or thundershowers may occur at several locations across the region.

The MeT department has also issued a temperature advisory. In the Kashmir Valley, maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius until May 23, potentially leading to heatwave-like conditions in some pockets. However, a dip of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected after May 23, offering slight respite.

In Jammu Division, temperatures are expected to climb by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius through May 26, with heatwave conditions predicted at isolated places. The forecast also includes the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms or gusty winds in a few areas.

Authorities have advised the public, especially children, the elderly, and outdoor workers, to take necessary precautions against heat-related ailments and limit exposure during peak afternoon hours. [KNT]
