AIBOC Celebrates 41st Foundation Day in Jammu with Tree Plantation and Renewed Commitment to Banking Values

The J&K and Ladakh UT Unit of the All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC) celebrated the 41st Foundation Day of the organisation with great enthusiasm at its Jammu office today.

To mark the occasion, a Tree Plantation Drive was conducted at the premises of SBI Bahu Plaza, Jammu, underscoring the Confederation’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The celebrations continued with a grand cake-cutting ceremony, attended by a large number of bank officers affiliated with AIBOC.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rajesh Mehta, Secretary of the J&K and Ladakh UT Unit of AIBOC, reflected on the organisation’s legacy and reiterated its commitment to public sector banking.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we recall the journey of AIBOC — a collective movement built on sacrifice, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to the ideals of democracy, solidarity, and justice,” Mehta said.

He highlighted that AIBOC’s history is deeply interwoven with the defence of public sector banking, which continues to serve as a vehicle for social transformation, economic empowerment, and national progress.

While recognising current challenges such as privatisation efforts and threats to the autonomy of banks, Mr. Mehta stressed that the organisation’s approach remains constructive and forward-looking.

“We remain committed to promoting a banking system that is strong, sustainable, and people-centric. We reaffirm our solidarity with comrades in private and foreign banks who continue to struggle for fair labour practices,” he added.

Mehta also called for equitable resolution of key service issues like Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) disparities, ensuring that all officers receive due recognition for their contributions, irrespective of their roles or sectors.

Highlighting the growing role of digital transformation in banking, he said AIBOC envisions a future-ready officer cadre, combining technological proficiency with empathy, ethics, and trust. He affirmed the Confederation’s stance that job security must remain a priority as banks adopt AI, automation, and other innovations.

Concluding his address, Mehta paid tribute to AIBOC’s founding leaders and reaffirmed the union’s continued dedication to the welfare of officers and the strengthening of India’s banking sector.

“We rededicate ourselves to the collective cause of officers’ welfare and to building a resilient and progressive banking sector that drives inclusive national development,” he said.
