Action Against Illegal Mining: Shopian Police Seize Two JCBs; Two FIRs Registered

In a continued drive to curb illegal mining activities, Shopian Police have seized two JCB machines involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from the Keegam and Zainapora areas of the district.

During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Post Keegam intercepted a JCB found extracting minerals illegally without valid royalty documents. The vehicle was seized on the spot, and FIR No. 232/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Shopian.

Similarly, a team from Police Station Zainapora, while conducting routine patrolling, seized another JCB engaged in illegal extraction of minerals from Rambiara Nallah near Aglar. In this regard, FIR No. 102/2025 under relevant legal provisions has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Shopian Police reiterated its commitment to act firmly against individuals involved in illegal mining and appealed to the public to cooperate in preserving natural resources.
