Islam Is a Religion of Peace, Says Hami; Thousands of Youth Join Anti-Drug Campaign
Islam is the only universal religion whose very name is rooted in the concept of peace, and whose foundational teachings emphasize the pursuit of knowledge, human dignity, and social harmony. This message was strongly reiterated by the chief of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing a large Friday congregation at Central Jamia Masjid Hamchi Pora, Khag (Budgam).
Speaking before a gathering comprised largely of young people, Dr. Hami underscored that violence, coercion, and compulsion have no place in Islam. He said the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ categorically reject all forms of extremism and terrorism, adding that those who engage in such actions stand far removed from the true spirit of the faith.
Dr. Hami urged the youth to acquaint themselves deeply with the authentic teachings of Islam and to act as ambassadors of peace and safety for the nation and the world.
Emphasis on Sufism and Moral Reform
Highlighting the role of Sufi saints, Allama Hami said that the teachings and character of the revered Sufis provide a “guiding light” capable of addressing the challenges of the modern era.
“No one has represented Islam better than the Sufi saints,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual connection with the shrines and sanctuaries of the Awliya Allah. Such spiritual grounding, he said, is essential for ensuring both social harmony and moral upliftment.
Call Against Drug Abuse
Turning to the rising menace of drug addiction, Dr. Hami warned that narcotics pose one of the most serious threats to today’s youth. He called for urgent, collective efforts to curb its spread.
He advised young people to focus on education, skill development, and productive use of time, instead of engaging in “meaningless social media chatter.” Investing in knowledge and capability, he said, is the key to success in this life and the hereafter.
Mass Youth Participation
In a remarkable show of commitment, thousands of young attendees pledged to join the anti-drug campaign initiated by Karwani Islami. They vowed to work actively for the welfare and progress of both society and the nation.
The event concluded with a renewed call for peace, spiritual development, and social responsibility—values that, Dr. Hami stressed, lie at the heart of Islam.
