Bali Appeals Govt to Allow Vendors at Landa Mall to Earn Livelihood
Vivek Bali, State President of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has appealed to the government to show a humane and sympathetic approach towards vendors selling their goods at Landa Mall, Jammu, and allow them to continue their work.
Vivek Bali said that these vendors are not involved in any unlawful activity but are merely trying to earn an honest livelihood to support their families.
He emphasized that at a time when the employment rate is already declining and job opportunities are shrinking, such small vendors play a crucial role in sustaining their households.
“We understand the challenges of regulation and urban management, but we must not forget the ground realities. These vendors depend entirely on daily earnings. Displacing them without providing any alternative means of livelihood will push many families into severe economic distress,” Bali stated.
He urged the administration to frame a practical and people-friendly policy that balances governance with compassion, ensuring that the poor and marginalized sections are not deprived of their only source of income.
Vivek Bali further appealed to the government to engage with vendor representatives, explore regularization mechanisms, and create designated vending zones so that they can work with dignity and contribute positively to the local economy.
The SBSP reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the poor, unemployed, and marginalized sections of society and to raise their concerns at every appropriate platform.
