Jahangir Ghani Butt Expresses Support for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s Call for Peaceful Dialogue

Former working president of the Muslim Conference, Jahangir Ghani Butt, on Monday expressed support for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s approach advocating peace, dialogue and reconciliation, describing it as pragmatic and essential for lasting stability.

In a statement, Butt said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has consistently called for resolving issues through meaningful dialogue rather than confrontation, and termed his stance courageous and forward-looking. He said the Mirwaiz’s contributions and sacrifices for the people are well recognised and deserve respect.

Butt said prioritising engagement, reconciliation and constructive dialogue is crucial in the current complex situation and can pave the way for a future based on dignity, justice and harmony. He added that a peaceful resolution involving sincere dialogue among all stakeholders remains the most viable path forward.

He urged all concerned parties to respond positively to what he described as a sincere effort towards dialogue, stressing that initiatives aimed at peace should be met with seriousness and goodwill.

Reiterating his support, Butt said efforts focused on peaceful engagement and reconciliation deserve collective backing in the interest of long-term peace and stability.
