Petrol, Diesel Costlier by ₹3.04, Sparks Opposition Criticism

Fuel prices across the country have been hiked by ₹3.04 per litre, with petrol now priced at ₹97.77 and diesel at ₹90.67 per litre, effective immediately.

The revision comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the public to reduce fuel consumption and adopt energy-saving measures. The hike is expected to push up transportation costs and prices of essential commodities, with economists warning of inflationary pressure.

Opposition parties have criticised the government, alleging that common people are being burdened by repeated fuel price increases.
