Book on Sharda Peeth’s Civilizational Legacy Released

Srinagar, May 15: A book titled “Sharda Peeth – Sati Desh Kashmir”, authored by Acharya Madan, President of Vishwa Hindu Peeth, New Delhi, was released on Thursday, with speakers describing Sharda Peeth as a symbol of India’s civilizational and spiritual heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries said Sharda Peeth has historically remained an important centre of knowledge, wisdom and Sanatan tradition, deeply linked with Kashmir’s cultural and religious identity.

The event highlighted the historical, religious and cultural significance of Sharda Peeth, an ancient temple and learning centre located in present-day Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which is revered by Kashmiri Pandits and scholars of Sanskrit traditions.

The speakers appreciated the efforts of Acharya Madan in bringing out a research-oriented publication on the subject, stating that such works help preserve and promote awareness about the region’s heritage among younger generations.

They said literature documenting Kashmir’s ancient traditions and intellectual legacy plays an important role in reconnecting people with the civilizational roots of the country.

Acharya Madan said the book attempts to present the historical importance of Sharda Peeth and its role in shaping Kashmir’s identity as a centre of learning and spirituality.
