Rain, Thunderstorm and Flashflood Risk in J&K Till June 12

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Thursday forecast partly to generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain, brief intense showers, thunder, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph gusting up to 60 kmph at many places across J&K on June 11 and 12.

Scattered spells of light rain, thunder and gusty winds are likely to continue from June 13 to 17, with another active spell expected on June 18 and 19.

For June 11–12, the MET Centre has warned of thunderstorm, lightning, hailstorm and gusty winds at isolated to scattered places, with brief intense showers likely to trigger flashfloods and mudslides at isolated locations in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

Residents have been advised to stay away from loose structures, electric poles and old trees. Boating and shikara riding have been suspended.
