Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, with particular emphasis on the early restoration of statehood, economic development and promotion of tourism.
In a post on X, Abdullah said he raised matters including the state of the economy, pace of development works and measures to boost the tourism sector. The CM's office said he also highlighted the need for continued support from the Government of India to accelerate economic growth, strengthen connectivity, generate employment, expand infrastructure and enhance public welfare across J&K.
Abdullah also congratulated the Prime Minister on completing 12 uninterrupted years in office.
The meeting comes amid continued demands by the NC-led government for restoration of full statehood, nearly seven years after J&K was reorganised in August 2019.
