Shutdown cripples life in south Kashmir, internet service suspended
Srinagar, Jan 25 : Life was on Thursday crippled due to strike in south Kashmir, where two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian on Wednesday night.
A teenage boy also lost his life and two girls were injured when security forces allegedly opened fire to disperse demonstrators near the encounter site after search operation was started on Wednesday.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief and anguish over the killing of a youth in the Chaigund village of Shopian district.
The authorities have suspended internet service of all cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in entire south Kashmir as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of rumours.
Train service in south Kashmir has also been suspended on Thursday.
