AAP attacks BJP govt for not responding to Maliwal’s ‘hunger strike’
New Delhi, Apr 19 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has attacked the BJP-led Government at the Centre for not responding to Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal, whose indefinite ‘hunger strike’ demanding capital punishment to rapists of minors, entered the seventh day on Thursday.
Ms Maliwal has been protesting here at Rajghat since April 13.
“It’s 7th day of DCW chief Swati Maliwal’s indefinite fast to get a Law for women security and there is no response from BJP’s shameless government which boasted of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” the party said in a tweet.
On Wednesday, AAP senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh had joined Ms Maliwal in her sit-in protest, also attacked the BJP Government on the matter.
“Swati is fighting for your cause. I appeal to everyone to come out in large numbers from your home and support her fight to send your voice to this ‘deaf and dumb’ BJP Government and compel it to accept our demand,” said Mr Singh.
In the last few days, various politicians, including AAP convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha and others had also joined Ms Maliwal in her fight.
