Calls on Gujarat CM, Food Minister
Gujarat: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs J&K Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali called upon Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Cottage Industry and Printing Minister Jayesh Radadiya at Gandhi Nagar Gujrat to discuss smart electronic public distribution system in the state.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali arrived in Gujrat on study tour to know the success of smart electronic distribution system in Gujrat. He held deliberation with Chief Minister of Gujrat Vijay Rupani and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Cottage Industry and Printing Jayesh Radadiya separately to discuss successful cashless system in Gujrat and smart electronic public distribution system in the state. He also visited various fair price shops and inspected the on spot working of automated FPS.
Chowdhary Zulfkar was apprised that Gujarat has become the first state in the country for establishing cashless system in its public distribution system (PDS) of food grains. He was briefed the efforts of the state government for installing Aadhaar enabled payment system in 17,250 fair price shops (FPS). He was told that the Implementing & strengthening PDS by ensuring availability of essential commodities in adequate quantities at fair price to the vulnerable section of the society is the main goal of the government which they have achieved.
He was also briefed about “Smart PDS” in which the state used modern state of the art technology to minimize the existence of Ghost Cards and to have more accurate information on RC besides to increase efficiency and effectiveness of PDS in the State. He was given information about Smart Ration Card, Smart License to FPS, Smart Identity Card to Civil Supplies Employees. They told him that Gujarat’s PDS is a model in electronic authentication of delivery and payments at the fair price shop which has been acknowledged by United Nations World Food Programme.
Meanwhile taking to Chief Minister of Gujrat and Food Minister of Gujrat, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali briefed them that J&K State is also heading towards a transparent system under the leadership of first ever lady Chief Minister Mohtrima Mehbooba Mufti. He said that his Department has achieved many milestones during the last 2 years in the state. He said that the perception of the Department has changed and the Department known for Corruption is now known as most transparent, accountable and streamlined department. He said that they are also heading to cashless transactions besides installing Point of Sale Machines in the state to make the system more transparent.
On the sideline of the meeting on ePDS, Zulfkar took up the matter of issue of Kashmiri students studying outside J&K. He said that there is need to compensate trust deficit among the students by giving them proper atmosphere to study in any part of the country. He said that cordial and brotherly atmosphere will surely help in bridging the gap between the Kashmir and the rest part of the country.
He appealed Chief Minister of Gujrat to ensure proper safety and security of Kashmiri students studying in Gujrat state. Zulfkar also suggested meeting of Kashmiri students with Gujrat CM so that to build confidence. The Chief Minister assured that they will take every step for safety and security of Kashmiri student besides will organize an interaction on dinner for all students of Kashmir studying in Gujrat.
