Sangli, Jun 3 :A Software Engineer working in Pune, who had come to his house on vacation, died along with his friend, when a speedy container hit their motorcycle at Kameri bus stand area in Walva tehsil of this district.
According to Islampur police, Amol Sanjay Patil (31), resident of Shastrinagar in Islampur of this district, had returned home by a private car on Saturday night. He disembarked on Waghwadi Phata on Pune-Bangalore national highway but after reaching home, he realised that he forget his mobile in the car.
Amol called up the car driver and told him to stop the car on highway. Along with his friend Harshal Hambirao Kamble (17), the 31-year-old came to pick up his mobile by motorcycle.
While he was a few meters away from the car, a speedy container on way to Kolhapur from Karad, hit their bike, killing Amol and Harshal on-the-spot.
Islampur police have detained the container driver for reckless driving and started further investigation, they said.
