Kerala CM’s relief fund grants Rs 416 cr to 2 53 lakh people

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 3  : The Kerala Government has granted Rs 416 crore to 2 point 53 lakh people from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund after the Pinarayi Vijayan Government came into power in the state.
According to Chief Minister’s office here on Sunday, the amount of money that a district collector can disburse in a month from the disaster relief fund was also raised to Rs 3,00,000.
“Provisions were also made to deliver the money directly to the account of applicant” said the office
“An efficient online system was also brought into replace the obsolete models for providing relief,” it added.
“With the raising of the ceiling for financial assistance to individuals for major medical treatments, now the Chief Minister can grant upto Rs three lakh to individuals” said the office.
As the Government is committed to ameliorate the lives of those in misery, a first step in this direction was taken to avoid people visit secretariat for relief, which also brought an end to the mass relief gala stunts, where people had to stand in long queues earlier.
