MOHD MAJID MALIK
BHADERWAH,MAR 20— With growing traffic every now and then in Bhaderwah , has become a talk of town with every citizen facing lot of problems, while going to his or her routine job daily. Parking problem in Bhaderwah has increased manifold, over a passage of time, now, which further gives rise to the traffic congestion on main roads and has become so severe even daily scuffle in roads ,, lanes & by-lanes is witnessed with tempers going high with no basic fault of them (citizens). At times, unpleasant & uncouth remarks are seen, exchanged in full public view. But now to regulate the ever increasing traffic and to avoid frequent traffic jams, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Bhadarwah Dr Owais Ahmed Rana IAS today ordered traffic restrictions declaring certain areas as ‘No Parking Zones’ in Bhadarwah town. The decision was taken after SDM Bhadarwah convened a meeting of police officers to chalk out a strategy and ensure smooth traffic in Bhadarwah and adjoining areas. After several representations by the civil society suggesting traffic regulations in Bhadarwah, a meeting of the officers of line departments including Tehsildar , Arto , DYSP Traffic Doda, Executive officer Municipal Committee and Station House Officer Bhadarwah was held and it was decided that all the commercial Vehicles shall not be allowed to park at Seri Bazaar and Pasri Bus Stand.Addressing a press conference here today SDM Bhaderwah informed that it was also decided that all the private Vehicles shall be allowed to park only at paid parking and no heavy/ medium Vehicles shall be allowed to enter the town from 8am to 6 pm. Beside traffic restrictions some areas as mentioned Pasri to Seri Bazaar, Boys Higher Secondary School to Seri Bazaar, Seri Bazaar to Fire station office ( via Ganpat Bazaar) , Ikhwan Chowk to Eid Gah point, Jamia Masjid to Revenue complex and seri Bazaar to Gupt Ganga Road were declared as no parking zone.“in view of traffic violations, which at times led to law and order problems, we have decided to impose traffic restrictions and declared certain areas as no Parking Zones,” said SDM Bhadarwah,Dr Owais Ahmed Rana .It is notable to mention here that although people have welcomed the decision but they remain apprehensive regarding implementation of the same.”This is a welcome step, but we have bitter experiences of the past decisions, either they were never implemented or fizzled out in a couple of days,” said a shopkeeper of Bhaderwah town .” Bhadarwah town has tight roads and to avoid accidents, any kind of Vehicle should not be allowed to enter in any of the congested markets,” he Demanded.During day to day discussions in Bhaderwah one may directly hold lawmakers solely responsible for this problem, who probably didn’t get to their (lawmakers) attention such a grave problem & always skipped off to find out the correct ways & means to put a final curb on this alarming problem, which can otherwise, take a very critical shape, if not controlled now. There is no single gali, lane, road on outer as well as internal peripheries of Bhaderwah , where there is no parking problem, if not controlled in near future, the day is not so far, when the walk of life shall be in a state of jeopardy & all the vehicular traffic & public movement shall come to a standstill.
