PM congratulates people on one year of GST enforcement
New Delhi, July 1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated the people of the country on the special occasion of completing one year of implementation of Goods and services Tax (GST).
“A vibrant example of cooperative federalism and a ‘Team India’ spirit, GST has brought a positive change in the Indian economy,” the Prime Minister posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
He said the new tax mechanism in the country has brought growth, simplicity and transparency. “It is boosting formalisation, enhancing productivity and furthering Ease of Doing Business,” he wrote.
Mr Modi said the uniform tax regime has specially benefited small and medium enterprises.
Implemented since July 1, 2017, the new tax regime has come under attack by political rivals of BJP including the Congress party.
In separate tweets, Mr Modi greeted medical professionals on the occasion of Doctors’ Day. “Theirs is one of the noblest professions of humanity. It is gladdening to see Indian doctors distinguishing themselves globally and being at the forefront of path-breaking research and innovation,” he wrote.
Mr Modi also conveyed his best wishes to the community of Chartered Accountants on the occasion of CA Day. “Widely recognised for their work and emphasis on corporate governance, the CA community has a vital role in nation building, ” Prime Minister wrote.
“May the CA community keep contributing towards India’s growth,” he added.
