New Delhi, July 2 : Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the AAP government’s top priority will be implementation of ‘Happiness Curriculum’ in the Delhi government schools in an effective manner.
“Our top priority will be to implement the ‘Happiness Curriculum’ in the schools in an effective manner to produce happy, creative and brilliant students, who could counter evils like corruption and terrorism to make a better world to live in,” the Chief Minister said after the launch of “Happiness Curriculum” by Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama here at Thyagraj Stadium.
Giving details of his government reforms in education, Mr Kejriwal said his government has done a lot to improve the quality and level of education in Delhi at a war-footing level such as adding new classrooms, new school buildings, by imparting best training to the heads of schools and teachers and ensuring cleanness in all the schools.
He said through ‘Happiness Curriculum’, every class will have a 45-minute Happiness Class, which will include meditation and talk on patriotism.
Mr Kejriwal said, ‘to launch this unique curriculum, the Dalai Lama was the best choice for us’ and he is
highly grateful to the Tibetan temporal leader for accepting his proposal.
Taking a dig on the education system started by Lord Macaulay 150 years ago, he said it was only to create students, who are just learning, repeating and passing and was meant for creating clerks only.
Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia, who was also present on the occasion, said, “Happiness Curriculum will be a boon for all of us as the students after completing their education, will
come out with full of energy, knowledge, happiness and confidence and they will create such an atmosphere of brotherhood, harmony, peace and ensure fullest development society.’
Mr Sisodia said a team of experts worked tirelessly for preparing
the “Happiness Curriculum”.
He said 10 lakh school children and 50 thousand teachers will participate in “Happiness Curriculum’ classes every day and they will ensure all round development of personalities of the students.
