CWC meets to discuss current political situation, including NRC
New Delhi, Aug 4 : A meeting of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee began on Saturday morning to discuss the current issues facing the country, including the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the alleged irregularities in the deal for Rafale fighter jets.
Being held at the AICC headquarters, the meeting of the CWC, chaired by Congress President Rahul Gandhi, is being attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge , AICC General secretary Ashok Gehlot and other members of the CWC.
Sources said the meeting, the second meeting of the newly constituted CWC, discuss the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the alleged irregularities in the deal for Rafale fighter jets.
The invitees to the event include CWC member Tarun Gogoi, PCC President Ripun Bora, Congress Legislative Party leader Debabrata Saikia and MPs Gaurav Gogoi and Sushmita Dev.
Sources said that former Congress president and chairperson of the Congress parliamentary party
Sonia Gandhi is not attending Saturday’s CWC meeting because of health issues.
It is the second meeting of the newly constituted CWC since it was formed.
