Goa Assembly adjourned sine die
Panaji, Aug 4 : The Goa Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday. The 12-day monsoon session had begun on July 19. However, on the first two days of the session, no business could be conducted as the opposition stalled the proceedings on issue of formalin in fish. The proceedings started from July 21.
During the session, the House passed important legislations which included Goa Salaries, Allowances and Pension of Members of the Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Bill, the Goa Salaries and Allowances of Ministers (Amendment) Bill, the Goa Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill, the Goa Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, and the Goa Mopa (Airport Development Authority) Bill.
The Assembly also unanimously passed a resolution recommending that the Goa Government urges Central Government to take appropriate steps to suitably amend the Goa, Daman and Diu Mining Concessions ((Abolition and Declaration as Mining Leases) Act, 1987 for resumption of iron ore mining.
State Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, Urban Development Minister Francis D’souza and Public Works Department Minister Sudin Dhavalikar could not attend the assembly due ill health.
