Thousands attend last rites of slain militant in Shopian; associates offer gun-salute

Srinagar, 4 Aug:   Militants on Saturday appeared in the funeral and offered gun-salute to their slain associate Umar Malik in Malikgund village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Meanwhile, thousands of people took part in the funeral prayers of Malik at his ancestral Malikgund village.

Malik was killed in a gunfight with four associates in Kiloora village of Shopian late last night.

Reports said a group of 2-3 militants appeared on the podium where corpse of Malik lay and fired in the air as a mark of respect to their slain associate.
