Defunct transformer forces Botingoo residents to hit streets

Sopore: The inhabitants of Botingoo area in North Kashmir’s Sopore town on Sunday  held a protest demonstration against the non-repairing of power transformer in the area.

A month back we approached concern authority to repair the damaged transformer since then we residents of Botingoo  are reeling under darkness said Mushtaq Koul a local resident.

The protesters chanting slogans against Power Development Department and were demanding restoration of power supply as soon as possible.

The inhabitants alleged that department is adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformer and restoring electricity in the area.

The protesters while talking with media said that we have been demanding repairing of damaged transformer several times in the locality but nobody paid heed and forced us to come to streets locals alleged.

Meanwhile the angry protesters appealed the higher authorities to look into the matter and solve their genuine problem.

A PDD official of the said area told The Tameel irshad  that it is due to
overload that the transformer had suffered snag many times. Further added that we have informed our higher authorities for installing one more transformer in the
area and for the same work is going on.
